Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my bank account show a withdrawal of $$$ despite not attending the appointment?

Rest assured; this is not a withdrawal. It's a "held" amount reserved by the practice to ensure funds are available at the end of your consultation. This helps streamline payment processes and ensures a smooth experience for all patients. This “held” amount will be released in case of appointment cancellation or after the consultation has ended and the bill has been processed.

What is the Safety Net and how does it benefit me?

The Safety Net is a government initiative designed to help patients with high medical costs. Once you reach a certain threshold of out-of-pocket medical expenses in a calendar year, you become eligible for reduced fees or even free treatment for the rest of that year.

Why are there treatment room fees?

Treatment room fees cover the cost of using specialised equipment and resources during your consultation or procedure. These fees ensure that you receive the highest standard of care in a well-equipped and sanitised environment.

Do mental health consultations with Dr. Ameer cost more?

Yes, Dr. Ameer specialises in mental health consultations and invests additional time and expertise to provide comprehensive care. As a result, consultations with Dr. Ameer may have a higher fee, reflecting the specialised nature of the service provided.

Why is Bulk Billing (BB) not available after hours?

Bulk Billing is a service where the healthcare provider bills Medicare directly, covering the full cost of the consultation. Unfortunately, after-hours consultations typically incur higher operational costs, making it financially unfeasible to offer Bulk Billing during these times.

Why does a doctor appear available for bookings online, but when I select "Standard Consultation," the doctor is not showing?

If a doctor appears available for bookings but isn't showing up when you select "Standard Consultation," it may be because the GP is only available for phone consultations during that time. To book an appointment with this doctor, you'll need to change the type of consultation to "Telehealth Consultations", “Phone Consultations” or "Video Consultation" to see their availability. This ensures you can still access their services remotely, providing flexibility in scheduling your appointment.
