Immunisations

Immunisation protects against infectious diseases and is important for both children and adults. Independent GPs consulting at Sandy Hill Medical Centre offer vaccination guidance and management.

Vaccinations stimulate the immune system to recognise and fight diseases. Common adult vaccines include:

  • Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR)
  • Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap)
  • Influenza
  • Pneumococcal
  • Hepatitis A and B
  • Varicella-zoster
  • HPV

Travel Vaccinations Travellers should consult a healthcare provider at least 2–3 months prior to departure to review:

  • Vaccination history
  • Destination-specific risks
  • Duration and purpose of travel

Vaccines such as yellow fever, typhoid, cholera, and hepatitis A/B may be recommended.

Immunocompromised and pregnant individuals should avoid live vaccines. A consultation with an independent GP is required prior to booking a nurse-administered immunisation.

Appointments can be made online, by phone, or in person.
