Pregnancy Care (Shared Care)
Shared antenatal care is an option available to low-risk pregnancies, allowing women to receive ongoing care from their independent GP alongside appointments with hospital-based services.
Care is coordinated between:
- Accredited local GPs
- Hospital antenatal clinics, midwives, or birth centres
If complications develop, hospital staff will take over care. Your GP may refer you to services such as dietitians, social workers, genetic counsellors, physiotherapists, or childbirth educators.
